The design for the Guiyang Hilton Hotel needs to convey several messages: Guiyang emerging as a modern Chinese city; local patronage and historic values; and it also needs to display a sense
of classic western design.
The challenge for HASSELL has been to capture these messages
in the design and create an iconic hotel that will stand the test of time. The design will certainly have hints of classic western design but within the guiding principles of the Hilton branding that is imperative for its position in the current China market. Being the first of its kind to marry local ideology with International Hilton standards, the challenge was to encourage the client to accept the HASSELL design philosophy over neo classical interior styling that is popular with China today.
