HASSELL was appointed to provide architectural, planning, interior design and landscape services to one of Melbourne's most significant projects, the new Commonwealth Law Courts. The building combines the jurisdictions of the High Court, the Federal Court and the Family Court, and is sited on the prominent corner of William and Latrobe Streets, opposite the Flagstaff Gardens, at the entry point into the legal precinct of Melbourne.  The complex provides 43 court and hearing rooms, registries for each jurisdiction, counselling, mediation, conferencing, and accommodation for Registrars and Judges.

The project also involved the successful integration of the new building with the existing underground railway station (Flagstaff Station), which is built over.
